Application Terazosin Hcl: Arterial hypertension, prostate adenoma, heart failure in the initial stage, hyperlipidemia.
Contra Terazosin Hcl: Hypersensitivity, hypotension, pregnancy, breast-feeding (at the time of treatment stop), children’s age.
Side effects of Terazosin Hcl: weakness, fatigue, drowsiness, restlessness, headache, dizziness, paresthesias, decreased libido, impaired vision, tinnitus, “first dose phenomenon” (sudden fall in blood pressure, up to orthostatic collapse after the first dose) hypotension, tachycardia, arrhythmias, peripheral edema, cough, bronchitis, dry mouth, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, arthralgia, myalgia, decreased hematocrit and hemoglobin, leukopenia, hypoalbuminemia, hypoproteinemia, influenza-like syndrome, allergic reactions.
Interaction: Strengthens the antihypertensive activity of diuretics, blockers, calcium antagonists, myotropic and drugs depressing the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.
Antacids and adsorbents reduce suction. Adrenoceptor agonists impair efficiency.
Overdose: Symptoms: tachycardia, hypotension, orthostatic collapse.
Treatment: transfer of the patient in a horizontal position, with lowered head end beds, intravenous fluids, hypertensive drugs.
Dosing and dose: Inside. At 1 mg dose at bedtime, gradually increase the dose to 10-20 mg (not more than) 1 time per day.
Precautions: To prevent orthostatic collapse of the initial dose should not exceed 1 mg, and assign it to be before going to bed (lying down).
